practicum class: journal entry.

I am continuing on my journey with my practicum hours at CenterPointe Hospital.

I am finding out that no two days are exactly the same. Some days are very smooth. While other days has its chalenges and rewarding moments.

Today was a rewarding day to me. Right now we have some preteens who are hospitalized for having suicidal thoughts. The preteens are easier to talk to than the young children. The young children are very impulsive, and active. their attention span is short. Today I worked with the preteens. I felt as is we were able to have some productive discussions on life. I felt as if the preteens really were listening to the discussions. At later times throughout the day; the individuals were able to tell me some very valuable information to them. A couple of people said that they don't want to have thoughts of harming themselves any more. We put in a safety plan for them as well. Due to confidentiality I can't give out very much information abaout what was discussed in the group setting. I was very plesed with the outcome of today.
